Practice Principal, Accountant and Financial Planner

Ed Barry, the principal of Edmond Barry Pty Ltd, has over 30 years of professional experience, for both small and large business.

Ed grew up on a dairy farm in Yarram, South Gippsland, attending school at the local primary and secondary schools. Ed graduated with a commerce degree from the University of Melbourne and is a qualified chartered accountant. Ed is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Ed’s professional experience includes over 10 years in Melbourne and overseas with Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse. Ed held senior manager positions with both major accounting firms in their audit and business service areas.

Ed has also had industry experience working for a major stockbroker as well as a software house in their financial administration areas.

Ed and his wife, Mandy, made a decision to return to the country with their young family in January 1991. Since his return to the country, Ed has been specialising in providing quality business and taxation advice to rural business and people.

In August 2001, Ed became an authorised representative of Count Financial Limited. Being a financial planner has greatly enhanced the Practice’s ability to provide comprehensive and relevant advice to our clients. The traditional skills learnt as a chartered accountant marry exceptionally well with financial planning. As skilled accountants we are very well placed to provide a quality financial planning service.

Practice Manager, Financial Planning Paraplanner

Mandy grew up in Myrtleford, North East Victoria, where her parents ran a retail pharmacy. Mandy graduated from the University of Melbourne with a degree in Town and Regional Planning.

Mandy worked as a Town Planner with Meldrum Burrows and Partners in Melbourne from 1979 until 1982, when she started her family. In 1986 she began a computerised bookkeeping business from home and worked part time as financial administrator for a retail pharmacy in Essendon.

Following the purchase of the accounting practice in Corryong, Mandy began by assisting Ed with the administration of the practice and assisting Ed in his professional role as Secretary of the Upper Murray Water Board. Over the next 12 years, Mandy has provided support in all areas of the practice including accounting, tax, audit, corporate secretarial, software development and support, practice administration and development.

In 2003, Mandy began assisting Ed in the Financial Planning area of the business and has undertaken extensive professional development and training in this area. In 2007, Mandy undertook external studies and received a Diploma of Financial Services.

Mandy is well placed to help provide planning advice and brings a valued female perspective in the advice provided by our practice.
